Dwayne Johnson will lead remake of Big Trouble in Little China

In what could be the most exciting remake news of all time, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is in talks star in an updated version of the cult classic Big Trouble in Little China. The Wrap first reported that the Furious 7 actor is in negotiations with 20th Century Fox to take the lead in and produce the film, with a script coming from X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz.

The original film starred Kurt Russell as truck driver Jack Burton, who is drawn into an ancient mystical conflict brewing in the underground caverns of San Francisco’s Chinatown. It was directed by John Carpenter, and while it didn’t make much of an impact upon release, the film has garnered an impressive cult following in the years since.

Johnson can currently be seen saving his family from an earthquake in San Andreas and will be taking on the small screen next with his upcoming HBO series Ballers. He’s also in the midst of shooting Central Intelligence with Kevin Hart and Ed Helms.
